||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Knocknamanagh Old School, TractonWelcome to the KOST website.Our aim over the next 2 years is to restore Knocknamanagh Old School, Tracton to it's original glory and also to extend it to hold:
In order to achieve our goal, we will be looking for donations, putting on fundraising events, and asking for sponsors. If you are interested in helping, please contact us. THE HISTORY OF KOST Knocknamanagh School was built in 1836 and was among the earliest National Schools built in Ireland. It did not close until almost 120 years later and it therefore embraces not only the local history of Tracton Parish but also the story of National Education in Ireland and the broader sweep of Irish history. Architecturally, it is also of national importance as it is one of the few two storey National Schools built in Ireland and one of the very few still in good structural condition. Find out more... |
